Cedar Rapids News and State Fair Results

The Cedar Rapids FFA officers and sponsor, Mr. Wetovick, had a summer activity at the Calamus Reservoir on July 18. The officers include Kevin Beierman, Laura Rutten, Melissa Mogensen, Calen Choyeski, Kaitlin Roan, Sammi VanDeWalle, Chris Hellbusch, Ryan Roberton, Tyler Kennedy, and fellow FFA member Elle Choyeski. A special thanks to Mike Choyeski for providing the boat, gas, and tubes for our “fun in the sun”! The officers also provided hot dogs, hamburgers, pop, and smores for an appetizing meal before departing for home. They organized and discussed other summer activities and officer duties.

State Fair Results
The State Fair in Lincoln was in September and FFA members showed animals on September 1,2, and 3. The results at State Fair are as follows:

Keri Beierman  • Two Blue ribbon market lambs  • Purple ribbon sheep carcass  • Blue ribbon sheep carcass

Keri and John earned the overall sheep herdsmanship trophy.

Joe Towey  • Two Red ribbon crossbred market hogs  • Blue ribbon crossbred market hog

Delilah Choat • Purple ribbon spotted gilt  • Earned a $40 extra premium • Purple ribbon range board

Caleb Choat • Red ribbon crossbred market hog
